An 80-year-old man passed away following an alleged attack in a park in Leicestershire, UK, by “a group of five teenagers.
The man was walking his dog at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 1, when he was attacked in a “serious” manner near the Bramble Way entrance to Franklin Park in Braunstone Town. Monday night he passed away in the hospital.
Teenagers, ages 12 to 14, were taken into custody on charges of his murder.
The kids who were thought to have attacked him left the area before help could come, according to the police, but they were eventually located.
Detective Inspector Emma Matts said: “Sadly, following the death of the victim last night, this has now become a murder investigation.
“Officers are continuing to work at speed to establish the details of the attack and we have made a number of arrests as we continue to understand what has happened.
“We still need people who were in the area to come forward if they have seen anything or have any information which could assist.
