Basketmouth Opens Up On Plans To Quit Comedy

Famous Nigerian stand up comedian Charles Okpocha, popularly known as Basketmouth has opened up on his plan to quit comedy in the next five years.

Basketmouth revealed this in an interview with a radio station in Ghana.

According to the comedian, he has been “floating” for the past six years and has decided to refocus on comedy for a period of five years. After that time, he plans to step away from the profession and focus on other ventures.

He said in the interview: “For the past six years I have just been floating, then last year I told myself and my team, I am going back to comedy I want to do five years and I am quitting. I am quitting in 5 years.

He continued: I have got five years to go to do this and I am done. I will still be cracking jokes but it wouldn’t be a professional thing. So if you see me doing any gig, it is maybe I am doing pro bono but I will not charge anybody to perform again.

Basketmouth expressed a desire to explore other creative avenues. He is currently focused on movie production, TV series, and concert production and hopes to be remembered for more than just his comedy.

I have made enough, I have committed myself to the art enough to take a break or quit. I am now into movies, series, and concert production. want to experience something new, and I want to be remembered for something else other than comedy, he said.
