Bill Cosby Set To Appear In Court Over Alleged 1974 Playboy Mansion Sexual Assault

EmbattledAmerican stand-up comedian; Bill Cosby will appear in court to respond to a civil suit over claims of sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in 1974, a representative for the artist revealed this on Thursday.

The trial date is set for April 18, 2022, and the actor plans to implement his Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination for all but a few questions related to his name, age and address of residence. According to his spokesman Andrew Wyatt.

Wyatt said Cosby’s legal team “has made it clear to Judge Craig Carlan and opposing counsel” that his client will not answer any questions about the alleged incident involving Judy Huth.

Huth claimed in a 2014 lawsuit that she met the then 37-year-old Cosby in 1974, when he welcomed her and a friend — who was 16 — on a film set. He then reportedly met Huth a few days later and made her drink alcohol before inviting him to a shindig, which she believed to be a Playboy mansion.

Wyatt said that he and Cosby’s legal team are preparing to have Cosby sit for a second testimony in New York City over the next three months. Bill Cosby’s lawyer announces plans to ‘completely prove him right’ in Playboy Mansion civil suit

According to Wyatt, Cosby is “fully prepared to fight for his innocence with dignity and class, representing truth and facts.”

Additionally, Cosby “strongly declares his innocence and denies all charges leveled against him by Ms. [Huth’s high-powered attorney Gloria Allred],” Wyatt said.

Allred is representing 33 women who accused Cosby of misconduct. She has previously announced her intention to proceed with a new civil trial against the actor linked to her alleged misconduct.

A position hearing in the case took place last month in Los Angeles Superior Court and was attended by Cosby’s attorneys Jennifer Bonzen and Allred. Cosby was not present at the time.

Cosby served more than two years of a sentence of three to 10 years in a state prison near Philadelphia after pleading guilty to grievous indecent assault in a separate case. He was released on June 30 after the Pennsylvania Supreme Court overturned his sentence, which found that District Attorney Kevin Steele, who brought the case against Cosby, violated an agreement not to charge him. Was. It was a deal that previous District Attorney Bruce Castor had struck in 2005, although it was apparently never put into writing.
