Cristiano Ronaldo Named Most Marketable Sportsman Ahead Of Messi, Serena Williams, Other (See Ranking)
According to the annual SportsPro ranking, Cristiano Ronaldo tops the list of the world’s most marketable athletes, beating out his former adversary Lionel Messi, Serena Williams, Lewis Hamilton, and LeBron James.
Due to his massive brand partnerships with companies like Nike, Herbalife, Clear, and LiveScore, the Manchester United star is regarded as one of the greatest footballers in history.
On Monday, October 17, SportsPro published their list of the 50 most marketable sportsmen, with Ronaldo leading the rankings.
Athletes were graded based on a “Marketability Score,” which is composed of three separate rating factors: audience, economics, and brand strength.
The rating, which is intended to accurately assess an athlete’s marketability, grades the athlete’s social impact, charitable work, and influence on the triple bottom line, in addition to social media reach or follower count.
“Who is the most marketable athlete on the planet today?”, Michael Long, the SportsPro’s editorial director asked.
“We at SportsPro have asked ourselves that very question every year since 2010, and each year the process of answering it provides a fascinating snapshot of the business of athlete marketing.
“Marketability can be defined in many ways, but what’s clear from our in-depth assessment is that each of the athletes in this year’s diverse list delivers considerable value to their brand partners.
