The recent arrest of crossdresser Bobrisky at Murtala Muhammed International Airport when he was preparing to depart the country has been discussed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The arrest is connected to allegations made in an audio tape made public by activist Very Dark Man in October, according to EFCC spokesperson Del Oyewale, who spoke to Linda Ikeji’s blog. In the tape, a person claiming to be Bobrisky stated that he had paid N15 million to the EFCC in order to have money laundering charges against him dropped earlier this year.
Oyewale claims that Bobrisky’s arrest is meant to facilitate the examination of the bribery claims covered on the tape. He disclosed that following the audio’s release, the EFCC had asked Bobrisky to come in for interrogation but he did not comply, prompting his arrest at the airport.
Bobrisky, however, denies any involvement, claiming that he is not the individual behind the viral audio note.
