In a powerful show of unity, stakeholders and diverse groups from the six Local Government Areas of Enugu North Senatorial District, commonly known as Nsukka Zone, have rallied behind Dr. Peter Mbah for a second term as governor of Enugu State.

This enthusiastic endorsement follows the exciting launch of the 5,000-shop Nsukka International Market, which Dr. Mbah hailed as a “world-class commercial hub.” This ambitious project is set to revolutionize trade, create job opportunities, and invigorate the economy across the Enugu North Zone.

A vibrant coalition of traditional leaders, political figures, community champions, professionals, and various organizations came together to applaud the governor’s genuine commitment to tackling the pressing challenges facing Nsukka Zone. They emphasized that his tangible projects and achievements, including the historic appointment of a local son as Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka—the first since its inception in 1960—demonstrate his determination to uplift the region. The momentum is building, and the future of the Nsukka Zone is looking bright!

Notably, the governor played a pivotal role in the historic appointment of a local son to the position of Vice Chancellor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka—a significant milestone, as this marks the first time since the institution’s inception in 1960 that someone from the Nsukka Zone holds this prestigious role. This appointment has been praised as an unprecedented achievement that underscores Dr. Mbah’s dedication to advancing the interests of his constituents.

At the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Mbah emphasised that the initiative was more than a physical structure; it represents a commitment to inclusive growth.

He assured that traders affected by the ongoing Ogige Market redevelopment would be given priority in the allocation of shops, reaffirming his administration’s pledge that “development must never leave anyone behind.”

The Nsukka International Market is slated for completion by the end of 2025 and will complement the already completed Nsukka Modern Transport Terminal, forming part of a broader vision to advance infrastructure, commerce, and connectivity in the region.

In addition to launching the market project, Governor Mbah commissioned the newly reconstructed School of Health – Stadium – GRA – Secretariat – Prisons ring road, executed by the Executive Chairman of Nsukka Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Jude Asogwa.

During his visit, the governor held engagements with traditional rulers from the zone, whom he praised for their continued support and inspiration in driving the state’s transformation agenda.

“I am sincerely grateful to the leaders and people of Enugu North Zone for their commendation of our modest efforts and for the impressive turnout and warm reception that made today truly memorable,” Mbah stated.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to building an Enugu State where “no zone is left behind and every community thrives.”
