Numerous people have been puzzled by the attack which occurred on Friday morning.
Alabo Alfred, the Plateau State Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), confirmed the event and stated that security personnel were alerted as soon as the gunmen killed the victims and fled the area.
He added that security had been stepped up in the region and that the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the area promptly contacted other security organizations, including Operation Safe Haven (OPSH).
The PPRO stated that because the area was not known for crises, it was difficult to determine the attackers’ intentions right away and added that security personnel were pursuing the perpetrators.
As many people were still sound asleep, gunmen ambushed the community early on Friday morning.
People were curious about the sporadic shooting as there had been no indication of a crisis in the area before the incident occurred.
As some people decided to take a quick look outside to see what was going on, one person got shot in the process.
The gunmen allegedly shot another man in the Fobur community, and two others at a place called Naton, while the last two victims died near a primary school not far from the scene of the first incident.
