Focus On Your Duties, And Stop Accepting Condolence Visits, Ogun Citizens Tell Gov Abiodun

Ogun State residents have complained about the way dignitaries have been visiting the Iperu residence of Governor Dapo Abiodun to offer their condolences on his father’s death.

Locals in Ogun state have lamented that since the death of the governor’s 89-year-old father, on August 2, his attention was shifted to accepting condolence visits and preparations for the burial, and issues pertaining to the welfare of the state have been ignored.

As the rains cause disaster on the state’s key roads, locals are frustrated that their Governor hasn’t shown concern in as much as to offer any comforting to his people.

They complained that the government spends a lot of time on social media posting images and videos of dignitaries who have visited him in the wake of his father’s death.

The citizens have taken to social media to vent their frustration.

These are some of the comments made by grieved citizens:

@Adebayo Ganiu: “Your Excellency, Stop these condolence visits and continue with the good work you have started.”

@Akinola Badmus: “When are you going to stop all this unnecessary jamboree? Face governance and let the dead rest in peace.”

@Olutosin David: “Nigerian politicians rule like illiterates, bringing home affairs to the office. How on earth will you use almost 2 weeks for burial when ur state is in a terrible condition?”

@Kayode Adebayo: Your Excellency Sir, enough of this jamboree, we the people of Ogun didn’t vote for you because of the jamboree. We only voted for u to rebuild Ogun state because we don’t have good roads from Ota to Ojuore, even from Sango Ota to Alagbole. The road has become worrisome.

@Adeyemi Adewale: “This your condolence visit is too much. When will this condolence visit finish? All the roads in the state are extremely bad. You keep wasting money on condolence visits.”

@Adesola Adesanya: “If the pre-funeral ceremony has taken more than 3 weeks, the main event may last for 3 months then! The person who killed your father must be regretting now.”

@Fowoshade Adefenwa: ”Please Ogun state Governor, kindly bury your dad and fix the road of Ogun state.”

@Oye Oyesanya: Condolence visits are overshadowing governance in Ogun State these days. This is incredible.

@Patrick Odiaka: ”You just may end up being the worst governor Ogun State ever had. On the 27th of this month, many drivers slept on the road from Sango to Ojuore and the same goes for those coming from the Obasanjo bus stop area due to the bad road. The particular section of the failed road is after Animashaun Estate, heading towards Sango. You will not repair the road because it’s a federal road, but collect levies from vehicles plying the road. The majority of the IGR comes from this same local government. Shame on you that people have to suffer because you are busy socializing instead of governing. This state can be three times richer than Lagos, but you and the ones before you don’t care. Take a look at Lagos, almost every street is tarred, that is a government that works. Ogun state is just like the country, a failed state”.

@Emmax Oluwafemi: “Ogun state is lacking behind, you are there mourning your late dad for over 3 weeks, let the dead man rest at least he lived a fulfilled life. What have you fulfilled as a governor?”

@Oluwakemi Jimoh: “This man lacks governance ideas, if not you would not be wasting this much time on condolence visitors.”
