THE LORD GOD DELIVERS HIS OWN PEOPLE, HE SPARES THEIR SoUL FROM DEATH

Jeremiah 20:10-13
Psalm 17(18):2-7
John 10:31-42:

Today’s gospel scene unfolds during the exhilarating Feast of Dedication of the Temple! Just earlier, in John 8:49, the people were ready to stone Jesus, but he cleverly eluded them, only for the tension to build as they sought to repeat their violent intentions.

According to the law, blasphemy was a serious offense punishable by stoning (Lev. 24:16), but only after a proper legal trial and sentencing. Yet in a bold move, Jesus defended his right to call himself the Son of God, quoting Psalm 82:6: “I say, ‘You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you.'” If scripture can bestow such titles upon humanity, why shouldn’t Jesus refer to himself in the same light?

He made two thrilling claims: first, that he was consecrated by the Father for a divine mission, and second, that he was sent into the world to fulfill his Father’s grand design.

Consecration in scripture means to be made holy for God—a free-will offering and sacrifice. Jesus took on the ultimate sin-offering role for us, liberating us from the chains of sin and condemnation! He spoke of his Father setting him apart for this incredible mission of salvation (John 10:36). In a daring challenge to his opponents, Jesus urged them to recognize his miraculous works if they struggled to accept his words. After all, words can be debated, but true deeds speak volumes!

Jesus, the perfect teacher, doesn’t just make promises with words; he substantiates them through action. The word of God pulsates with life and power for those who believe! He illuminates the path of truth and holiness and empowers us to embrace the gospel with joy, inviting us to become his vibrant witnesses in the world.

So, let me ask you: Are you a doer of God’s word, or just a forgetful hearer? Remember, anyone who remains faithful to God’s word will have Him on their side (Jeremiah 20:11). He is an unstoppable deliverer, faithful for all time! Get ready to embrace this journey with enthusiasm and purpose!

Best wishes of the day. Stay safe.
