Gavi Wins The Golden Boy Award For 2022

Gavi, a star player for Barcelona, has been awarded the famed Golden Boy award for 2022.

The remarkable season of the 18-year-old midfielder from Spain with the Nou Camp side was acknowledged as he became the 20th recipient of the award for the best under-21 footballers in Europe.

He finished ahead of Jamal Musiala, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham of England to win the award, which will be formally given on November 7 in Turin.

In addition to the likes of Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe, Joao Felix, Wayne Rooney, and Cesc Fabregas, Gavi now follows in the footsteps of past Barcelona winners Lionel Messi (2005) and Pedri last year.

At the start of the 2021–22 season, the midfielder—a graduate of Barcelona’s famous La Masia academy—was promoted from Barcelona’s ‘B’ team to the main squad.

Gavi also took home last week’s Kopa Trophy for France Football’s best under-21 talent.

The Italian sports newspaper Tuttosport organizes the Golden Boy awards, which are decided by an international panel of journalists and professionals. Gavi won the honour over Bellingham, Camavinga, Gavi, and Musiala.
