“How Long Will We Dance Front And Back In Search Of A Good Leader”, Vice CAN Chairman Says

Rev. John Joseph Hayab, Vice-Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Northern States and Federal Capital Territory, has stated that Nigerians require a leader who can bring the country together and lead it out of its current economic and security issues.

In a statement, Rev. Hayab, who is also the chairman of CAN’s Kaduna State division, said: “Nigerians today simply need a leader that can deliver the goods, unite the nation and take us out of our economic woes and Insecurity challenges.”

Those who came out to talk about the next President’s age and region were merely trying to start an issue that would further divide the country and put it in a terrible situation, he said.

He said, “Our Association, therefore, wishes to warn the Nation against these unhealthy moves and also to appeal to Nigerians not to allow these short-sighted and selfish considerations to becloud our reasoning,” urging the people.

Hayab stated that Nigerians have previously elected presidents based on some of these factors, but the result has been a disappointment and has led to no progress in the country.

“Those who have been misleading us with these parochial views anytime elections are around the corners have started a new game which we must all resist and never give them space”, he said.

“How long should we allow our country to be dancing back and forth when looking for a genuine leader”, Hayab laments.

He insisted that “every citizen that truly loves this country knows that Nigerians have suffered too long and need to shine their eyes to have a leader that is truly nationalistic in all spheres of life for the country to have a sense of direction.”

“The age of whoever will become Nigeria leader should never be an issue for debate because Nigerians must never allow anyone that does not have good leadership credentials and capacity to be her leader just because he is young or old but our concern should be for us all to look for a good and detribalize Nigerian who can fight insecurity, stop corruption, make the country to move forward”, Hayab added.
