The Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) has debunk rumours making rounds that Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of the late gospel singer, Osinachi, is missing.
Recall that, it was earlier reported that Peter Nwachukwu was among the prisoners who escaped the Kuje prisons following the terrorist attack on the prison facility last week Tuesday, July 5.
During the attack, about 600 prisoners—including Boko Haram terrorists—escaped from the prison.
The service said it was untrue that both men escaped during the July 5 jailbreak at Medium Security Custodial Centre, Abuja.
Public Relations Officer, FCT Command, Chukwuedo Humphrey spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria on Tuesday.
The spokesman said the clarification became necessary in view of information circulating.
“The story is false, reckless and mischievous. They are still in custody. Efforts are ongoing to recapture all fleeing inmates.
“The Controller-General, NCoS, Haliru Nababa, is determined to continue to upscale inmates’ welfare and safety”, Humphrey added.
On June 3, a Federal Capital Territory High Court in Wuse remanded Nwachukwu to the Kuje Correctional Facility pending the hearing and outcome of the homicide-related case the Attorney General of the Federation had filed against him.
