Mortuary Attendants Arrested Over Dead Man’s Missing Genitals

After the startling revelation that a deceased young man’s testicles were removed from his corpse at a local mortuary, there was mayhem in Umuezibe, Obingwa, along the Aba/Ikot Ekpene route in Abia State.

According to reports, the deceased, who was only known as Chimaobi, was electrocuted in Abayi Okorator while fiddling with high-tension electrical connections.

After that, his body was placed in the mortuary to be buried. But when young people from his neighborhood came to collect the body, they discovered to their horror that his genitalia were gone.

Outrage over the discovery prompted a violent attack on the mortuary, resulting in the destruction of the building and the near-lynching of its staff.

According to witnesses, the attendants made an effort to attempted to flee the scene but were quickly apprehended by the enraged youths.

As tensions escalated, families with deceased relatives at the mortuary rushed to retrieve their loved ones’ remains, fearing further tampering. Some opted for immediate burials, while others relocated the bodies to different mortuaries.

Witnesses attested that the Eastern Ngwa division police’s intervention stopped the situation from getting worse.

Although authorities have not yet released formal information, it has been alleged that the mortuary attendants were placed under arrest.

A senior local police official gave assurances that the situation was under control. The circumstances underlying the alleged mutilation of Chimaobi’s corpse are anticipated to be revealed via investigations.
