New Session: Education Commissioner Prompts Parents And Teachers To Push For Quality Education In Ekiti

To ensure quality education for school children in the state, the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Dr. Olabimpe Aderiye has charged both parents and teachers to be focused, diligent, and aware of their responsibilities as primary and secondary schools in Ekiti State continue academic activities today, Monday 6th September 2021, for the 2021/22 academic session.

According to Dr. Aderiye, the state administration was fully prepared for the new academic year and was committed to leaving no stone unturned to ensure a successful academic year.

As part of the administration’s commitment to providing free quality and mandatory education up to the Senior Secondary School level, Aderiye stated that the government would continue to monitor activities in schools to ensure that worldwide best practices are followed.

She referred to the academic calendar released by the State Government through the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the 2021/22 academic session, which stated that the 1st Term would begin on Monday, 6th September 2021 and end on Friday, 10th December 2021, with a 14-week duration, with a one-week mid-term holiday from Friday, 12th November to Saturday, 20th November 2021.

There will be a three-week first term holiday from Saturday, December 11, 2021, to Sunday, January 2, 2022, and the second term beginning on Monday, January 3, 2022, and ending on Friday, April 8, 2022, with a two-day mid-term holiday in between from Thursday, February 17, 2022, and Friday, February 18, 2022.

The Commissioner stated that the third term would begin on Monday, May 2, 2022, and end on Friday, July 29, 2022, with a two-day mid-term holiday starting from Thursday, June 9, to Friday, June 10, 2022, and that the school year would conclude with a six-week holiday from Saturday, July 30, to Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Noting that school officials have been advised to begin full academic work in all schools on the first day of each term, Aderiye cautioned that all national public holidays should be observed following the Federal Government’s directives.
