Nigerian Man Arrested In Thailand For Online Pr0stitution

Thai Tourist Police have arrested a 21-year-old Nigerian man for allegedly offering s*xual services through an online platform.

The Nigerian, simply known as Mr John, was apprehended on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, near the Thephasadin Stadium in Bangkok’s Pathum Wan area.

Mr John allegedly priced his services at 12,000 baht, claiming it was only to augment his funds while visiting the nation.

The operation began after it was discovered that Mr John (not his real name) was advertising unlawful services on a public website.

Based on this information, police devised a strategy including an undercover operative.

The agent contacted Mr John using the Line messaging app and scheduled a meeting at the stadium to settle the conditions.

After the payment was carefully swapped, officers who had been monitoring the situation rushed in, detaining Mr John and confiscating his mobile phone, which had incriminating evidence from the conversation.

During inquiry by an English-speaking interpreter, Mr John revealed that he landed in Thailand as a tourist via Suvarnabhumi Airport on October 21, 2024.

His tourist visa authorized him to stay until December 19, 2024.

Mr. John acknowledged to giving s*xual services online, stating it was a side hustle to make additional money.

He has since been charged with soliciting pr0stitution and has been detained to the Pathum Wan police station, where further legal action will be taken.

Further investigations may be conducted to discover whether Mr John was part of a broader network or acted alone.

The police are urging the public to report any suspicious behavior as they continue to crack down on unlawful operations that harm the country’s reputation.
