Nigeria’s Amusan Nominated For The Women’s World Athlete Of The Year Award

Oluwatobiloba Amusan, the Nigerian “golden girl,” has been nominated for the Women’s World Athlete of the Year award.

On Wednesday afternoon, the World Athletics announced the nominees for the award via its official Twitter account.

Amusan is the first athlete from Nigeria to get a nomination for the Nobel award in history.

The World Athletics also put forward nine other athletes for the award.

Shanuae Miller-Uibo, Kimberly Garcia, Yaroslava Mahuchikh, Shericka Jackson, and Yulimar Rojas are among the other nominees.

Faith Kipyegon, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, Chase Ealey, and Sydney McLaughlin will also compete for the award.

In June, Amusan won a gold medal in the 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA.

In the semi-final, the 25-year-old also set a new world record of 12.12 seconds.

She also defended her Diamond League title this year.
