Royal Family Son Arrested For ‘R@pe’

The eldest son of Norway’s Crown Princess Mette-Marit has been arrested on suspicion of r@pe, police said.

Marius Borg Hoiby, 27, is the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon, the Norwegian heir to the throne, and the son of Princess Mette-Marit from an earlier relationship.

He holds no royal title or formal obligations. Borg Hoiby was detained late Monday, Nov. 18, in Oslo on a preliminary accusation of having “s*xual intercourse with someone who is unconscious or unable to resist the act.”

A preliminary charge is issued before a formal charge, allowing police to detain suspects during an investigation. Police did not specify when the alleged rape occurred, merely stating that “the victim must have been unable to resist the act.”

According to Norwegian media, Borg Hoiby refuted the accusations.

Hege Salomon, the woman’s lawyer, stated that “she is having a hard time”.

She informed Norwegian station NRK that the police, not the woman, had filed the lawsuit. The woman was not identified.

The royal palace declined to comment, according to the news agency NTB.

On August 4, police officers went to a disturbance in central Oslo and temporarily detained Borg Hoiby. He was released after facing preliminary accusations for bodily harm and criminal damage. Details were unclear, however police stated that there was “a relationship between the suspect and the victim”.

More preliminary accusations have been brought against Borg Hoiby, including violating multiple restraining orders and driving without a valid driver’s license. Overall, the instances involve four women and one man. The case made headlines in Norway, where the royals are adored.

Borg Hoiby lives alongside the royal couple and their two children, Princess Ingrid Alexandra and Prince Sverre Magnus.

Borg Hoiby’s mother, the future queen of Norway, made news in 2001 when she married Prince Haakon because she was a single mother who had led a wild lifestyle with a lover who had been convicted of drug charges.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
