Professor Jovanna Dahlgren, a pediatric endocrinologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital in Gothenburg, noted that this was not an isolated incident; she has encountered at least six similar cases. “I don’t think people always understand how potent these treatments are,” she remarked in an interview with Göteborgs-Posten.

Dahlgren also recalled another troubling case involving a 10-year-old boy who developed breast tissue from exposure to his mother’s estrogen cream. These rare but significant incidents underscore a crucial issue: the unintended transference of topical hormone medications to infants through routine physical contact.

Fortunately, in this particular case, the symptoms of the little girl began to reverse once her father stopped using the gel and exposure was eliminated. It’s a stark reminder of the hidden dangers that can lurk within seemingly harmless everyday interactions.
