SSANU Hailes Gov Abdullahi For Improving Educational Standard In Nasarawa State

A statement from the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has hailed Nasarawa State Governor Sule Abdullahi for improving the quality of education in the state.

Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, the National President of SSANU, expressed his appreciation when he joined the executive members of the union on a visit to the governor in Abuja on Tuesday.

Comrade Ibrahim informed the governor that the union was in the state for a training session for members as well as the 40th National Executive Council, NEC, meeting, which was being hosted by the Nasarawa State University, Keffi, in the state.

He applauded the governor for having a “clear impact” on boosting the overall standard of education in Nasarawa State, which he termed as “impressive.”

In light of the great achievements in the development of the state’s infrastructure, the SSANU President described him as “pragmatic and cosmopolitan,” and urged him to continue the good work.

As far as Ibrahim knows, only Nasarawa State University Keffi has fully paid all of its employees’ emoluments and entitlements, which is the case among other public universities in Nigeria.

Governor Abdullahi responded by expressing his joy at the decision to hold the NEC meeting at Nasarawa State University Keffi, and in particular at the choice of the state as the venue.

Since taking office, he has stated that the improvement of the education sector has been his main focus, with the education sector receiving the largest share of the national budget.

“The development of infrastructure in Nasarawa State is second only to the education sector,” he stated.

A decent number of money, according to the governor, has been invested in the development of the State University, particularly in the upgrading of the faculties of medicine and engineering.

As a result of the tremendous efforts being made to strengthen the state’s IGR, he believes that the tourist sector, which is a vital component of the state’s economy, will see a significant increase in revenue.

He promised to look into the potential of increasing the amount of money that the University receives in monthly subventions soon.
