IGNITE YOUR PASSION FOR THE LORD

Today’s Gospel takes us into a dramatic moment at the Last Supper (John 13:21-38) where tension fills the air as Jesus reveals a shocking truth: one of his disciples will betray him! As the disciples lean in, their hearts racing, the betrayer is unveiled when Jesus shares a piece of bread dipped in wine with Judas. Picture Simon Peter, anxiety written all over his face, nervously asking, “Lord, who is it?” It’s a chilling moment; the fear of betrayal looms large.

On that pivotal night, no disciple stood out as a brave hero; they were all gripped by fear and uncertainty. Just like them, we sometimes find ourselves in a state of denial, believing we’re on the right path when we might be heading in the wrong direction. It’s easy to ask why Judas would turn against Jesus, even after exposing his dark intentions. But we also need to reflect on our own choices. Why do we hold onto regrets as if we could turn back time? Every one of us has our own mistakes, that little bit of Judas Iscariot within us surfaces whenever we sin, turning away from God.

Yet, despite knowing their hearts and their fears, Jesus still welcomed every disciple to that sacred table in the upper room! What a profound act of love! Christ stands as both the offering and the offerer, inviting us into the embrace of the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass each day. As we journey through this Holy Week, let’s ignite our passion for Jesus! May we trust him wholeheartedly and seek the grace to follow him more closely, ensuring that we never stray from the path of our salvation. Amen!
