2023: “Don’t Vote With Emotions” – Olusegun Obasanjo

Published on

Olusegun Obasanjo, a former president of Nigeria, has cautioned citizens against making election decisions solely based on their emotions, saying doing so will be detrimental.

The general elections in 2023, according to Obasanjo, ought to mark a turning point for Nigeria.

He stated this during a visit by the leadership of the Mzough U Tiv group, the leading sociocultural organization in Tiv land, Benue State, to the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Ogun State over the weekend.

In a statement released on Sunday, Obasanjo’s spokesperson Kehinde Akinyemi said that the former president had expressed support for a change in the country’s leadership from the North to the South.

He said, “If Nigeria is ready to get it right, the 2023 elections should be a turning point. We should not go for emotion that will destroy us.”

He also encouraged the Middle-Belt region to keep pushing for an alternating presidency for the country.
