The suspect was arrested and charged with one count of murder by the police.

The prosecutor, Opeyemi Olagunju, who is also an Inspector of Police, told the court that the accused individual had slammed his mother against a wall in their home, causing the 50-year-old woman to die as a result of the Impact.

The police officer informed the court that because of the outcome, the accused person was apprehended in August in the vicinity of the Jerusalem area in Ojoo, Ibadan.

According to the prosecutor, the offense violated Section 316 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000, and was penalized under Section 319 of the Criminal Code.

The prosecutor explained to the court how the incident occurred, stating that the accused individual had asked for food from the deceased after coming back from the farm hungry and that the deceased responded by saying that there was no food at home.

He claims that when the fellow heard this, he became enraged and threw his mother against a wall, causing her death.

The suspect’s plea was rejected by the Magistrate, Olaide Hamzat. He claimed that the court lacked jurisdiction in the matter.

The judge ruled that the case file and evidence should be given to the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal guidance and that the matter be heard on November 23, 2021.
