On Monday, Yusuf Abdullahi, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Bauchi State, reported that five people were killed in a road accident in Bauchi State on Sunday.

In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Monday, Abdullahi confirmed the event and said five others were injured.

He said the accident occurred at 10:00 p.m. along Darazo-Bauchi road, involving a Sharon bus with plate number DRZ 887 XA belonging to the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) and one trailer truck.

The accident was blamed on obstruction, according to the Sector Commander.

He stated that the crash included ten people and all of them were men.

He said, “The Sharon Bus carrying the 10 passengers ran into a stationary trailer truck and five of them died while five others sustained series of injuries.”

The FRSC chief stated that his team has cleared the crash site of any obstructions.

He further stated that the deceased’s bodies had been transported to Darazo General Facility for identification and that the injured had been transported to the same hospital for treatment.

The commander said, “I want to use this opportunity to plead with motorists to always be conscious of all traffic rules and regulations as well as weather conditions before embarking on a journey.

“FRSC will remain on the roads across the state to ensure that users abide by and observe all the road traffic regulations.

“Anybody found guilty will not be spared, no matter his or her status.”

According to the FRSC In Abuja, another fatal crash occurred at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday in Goltukurwa Village along the Dass-Bauchi road, killing eight people, NAN said.

The accident, which featured an Opel Vectra and a Tipper Mercedes, was caused by ‘overloading,’ speeding, and a head-on collision, according to the Sector Commander.
