The Abia State Police Command has arrested the site engineer responsible for a three-storey building that collapsed in Umuahia, injuring three people. The building, owned by Chief Ikechi Emenike, partially collapsed on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at around 2:45 am.

Injuries and Fatalities: Three people were injured in the collapse, including a 35-year-old woman, her five-year-old daughter, and a five-month-old newborn. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
Site Engineer’s Arrest: The site engineer, whose identity hasn’t been disclosed, is currently assisting the police with their investigation.
Integrity Test: The Abia State Government will conduct integrity tests on all buildings with two floors or above to ensure citizens’ safety.
