A United States of America-based Nigerian actress, Toyin Haastrup, has spoken about her relocation to the US and her career as an actress cost her a long-term relationship.

In a statement sent to Saturday Beats, she said, “In my journey in life, I don’t regret anything. If whatever I planned does not happen as I planned, I learn from it and move on. One of the sacrifices I made as a woman and actress is that if I had not left Nigeria for the US, I’m sure I would have got married or become a popular star. The biggest sacrifice was losing my long-term relationship as a result of my relocation and the fact that I am an actress.”

The graduate of Mass Communication from the Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, also noted that her relocation to the US was a ‘twist of fate’ that played out in her favour. She said, “I was opportune to feature in a film titled, ‘Osumare’, in which I played my first major role. It brought me to the limelight, and I was nominated alongside some notable actors to perform in a stage play in the US. That was how my journey to the US happened.”

Haastrup, who is also an American citizen, has produced two movies titled, ‘Feranmi’ and ‘Stripper’.
