Mary Njoku, a Nollywood actress, responded to the confrontation between Comfort Emmanson and Ibom Air officials.
Before Emmanson was arraigned and placed on remand in prison, you may remember that she was taken off an Ibom Air aircraft for allegedly assaulting an Ibom Air cabin crew member and some security officers during a Uyo–Lagos flight.
Njoku called the event a flagrant affront to her dignity. Njoku stated in a post on her Instagram page on Tuesday that she didn’t mind if the airline offloaded the passenger if needed, but she denounced the purported stripping of the individual and the internet distribution of the video.
“I understand removing her from the plane, that’s not the issue.
“What I cannot understand is stripping her while doing so and then putting it all over the internet,” she said.
“Airline or airport staff are trained professionals, and I refuse to believe that dehumanizing someone, stripping a woman naked, and broadcasting it online is part of that training, no matter what crime she may have committed,” Njoku said.
She stressed that the passenger deserves compensation for the “damage done to her life and dignity.”
