Ali Baba Reveals The Cost Of Political Seats In Nigeria

Published on

Veteran Nigerian comedian Ali Baba has revealed what he refers to as the price tags affixed to important offices, illuminating the startling financial cost of obtaining political posts in Nigeria.

Ali Baba talked about the pervasive corruption in Nigerian politics during a recent interview on the OUTSIDE THE BOX program.

He claims that although running for governor in some states costs between ₦20 and ₦25 billion, running for a senate seat might cost up to ₦1.2 billion.

Such astronomical amounts, according to Ali Baba, who has longstanding contacts in political circles, have made politics a capital-intensive endeavor that fosters corruption and distances politicians from the people they are suppose to represent.

Well said sir. We have families that can’t afford anything. There is a problem if we have people enjoying, living extravagantly while others are suffering.
