Aliko Dangote Set To Acquire French Football Club

Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and boss of a major Nigerian conglomerate, is reportedly on the verge of buying French Ligue 2 side Valenciennes.

Dangote Group’s CEO is reportedly planning to buy his 60% stake in the team, according to French media reports.

The largest industrial conglomerate in Africa, the Dangote Group, had previously expressed interest in purchasing Premier League team Arsenal, but the deal fell through.

Since its founding in 1913, Valenciennes has played its home matches at the Stade du Hainaut.

The team has played in Ligue 1 for 40 seasons and Ligue 2 for 36; during that time, they have won the Ligue 2 championship twice, but not the Ligue 1 championship.
