Anambra Man Using Charm To Steal From POS Operators Caught By Police

A man who allegedly utilizes charms to swindle POS operators in Awka has been apprehended by Anambra State police.

According to reports, the charm-wielding man cuts simple white papers into naira note sizes and hands them to POS employees to deposit into an account.

After transferring their funds to the account provided by the suspected fraudster, the operators only find out later that the money is just papers.

The fraudster’s identity was provided as Chisom Nweke by DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, spokesman for the Anambra State Police Command, who notified the press of the arrest in a press statement.

According to the statement, “Police Operatives today 15/9/2022 at about 9 am arrested one Chisom Nweke ‘M’ aged 26yrs, of Umuawulu, Awka along Amawbia roundabout.

“He confessed to be using charms to defraud POS operators within Awka and its environs.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect cuts plain white papers in size of the money and gives to the POS operator for deposit.”

According to the command, there are speculations that Nweke is a part of a syndicate with other individuals, and there are currently efforts being made to apprehend other gang members.
