Are You A Friend Of Jesus?

Published on

Acts 15:22-31
John 15:12-17

Today we are challenged by the words of Jesus in today’s gospel, saying to us all; “ if you are my friends if you do want I command you…what I command you love one another.”What does it mean for me today to love one another and do as Jesus did, i.e., lay down his life for his friends? It means, what I am looking for is exactly what I am dying for. In other words, to live for Jesus is to die for Jesus. To love Him is to hate the world and to hate the world is to eat witness to the joy and love we experience from the gospel.

Each of us is therefore called to love as Christ loves. It means that our prime aim is to sustain our lives as much as actively live out Christ’s life wherever He puts us. Love demands obedience and sacrifice Obedience is an indication that we are truly connected to God and we truly understand his sacrificial love for us and humanity.

As we go about our usual activities of the day, let us remember that we are friends of Jesus. His love can never fade because he never fails. He is the light that cannot be diminished. There is no friend like Jesus. He has taught us how to love by laying down his life for us. Remember that, the friend who remains when others quit is the only friend you need. Jesus loves you and He never fails.
