Authorities Search Andrew Tate’s Romanian Home After New Allegations Surface

The residence of controversial online influencer Andrew Tate, who is awaiting trial on allegations of rape, human trafficking, and organizing a criminal gang to se*ually exploit women, has been the target of recent searches by masked police officials in Romania.

The anti-organized crime organization in Romania, DIICOT, announced that it was conducting house searches in four locations in Bucharest and the neighboring county of Ilfov.

The agency is looking into claims of money laundering, influence peddling, se*ual activity with a child, and human trafficking. Hearings will subsequently take place at the agency’s headquarters, it added.

“Although the charges in the search warrant are not yet fully clarified, they include suspicions of human trafficking and money laundering,” Tate’s spokesman Mateea Petrescu stated in response to the raids.

He added that his legal team is present.

Ms. Petrescu chose not to respond to the claims made about minors. Hundreds of police officers and forensic experts were searching Tate’s expansive estate on the outskirts of Bucharest, the capital.

“The presumption of innocence and procedural rights and guarantees afforded by the Code of Criminal Procedure are advantageous to the investigated persons throughout the entire criminal process,” DIICOT stated in its statement.

Along with two Romanian ladies, Andrew Tate, 37, and his brother Tristan, 36, who are all dual British-US citizens and former kickboxers, were arrested in 2022 close to Bucharest. Together, they have millions of social media followers. All four were legally charged by Romanian prosecutors last year. They have refuted the accusations.

The Bucharest Tribunal decided in April that the case file presented by the prosecution against the four individuals satisfied all legal requirements, allowing for the commencement of a trial without specifying a date.

This decision was made following months of discussion in the preliminary chamber phases of the case, during which the defendants can object to the evidence and case file presented by the prosecution. The Tate brothers were placed under home arrest after three months of police custody following their arrest in 2022.

Afterward, they were limited to the counties of Bucharest and Ilfov, and eventually, to the entirety of Romania. A previous ruling allowing the Tate brothers to leave Romania pending trial was reversed by a judge last month.

They were free to leave the nation as long as they stayed in the 27-member European Union, according to a July 5 ruling by the previous court. The choice was unchangeable.

Recognized for his misogynistic online remarks, Andrew Tate has garnered 9.9 million followers on social networking site X.

He has maintained his claims that there is a political conspiracy to suppress him and that prosecutors lack evidence against him. He has already been prohibited from using several social media sites due to hate speech and alleged misogynistic beliefs.

The Tate brothers also made an appearance in March at the Bucharest Court of Appeal in a different case, following the issuance of arrest warrants by British authorities in relation to claims of se*ual assault in a UK case that spans from 2012 to 2015.

The British plea to extradite the Tate brothers to the UK was approved by the appeals court, but only after the Romanian legal proceedings were finished.
