Bose Ogulu Shares Insights On Supporting And Managing Burna Boy

Published on

Bose Ogulu, a Nigerian talent manager, has shared how she manages and raises afrobeat musician Burna Boy while finding balance.

In an interview, Ogulu discussed her duties and how she manages to juggle being a mother with managing one of Africa’s most well-known musicians.

Ogulu explained that she maintains equilibrium by keeping her duties distinct. She said she currently oversees a group of forty children.

“Yes, sometimes it’s tough drawing the line between work and emotions. But I tell him: ‘Now your mom’s talking,’ or ‘I’m your manager, so yell at me.’ It helps us feel supported, even in disagreements. Objectivity is hard, but we practice. Family extends beyond my kids, now I have 40 “kids” on stage or touring with us,” she said.

Ogulu also revealed that the early days were filled with sacrifices, stating that she once funded their music.

“Before, they couldn’t pay me; I funded their music, read contracts, handled admin. France is special because I speak French and took my kids on trips there (like Biarritz). It became part of their lives. We saw rock music everywhere. Switching from manager to mom hat? Easy if I was just a mom, I’d stay home. But this is my job,” she said.
