Breaking News: Nigerian Senator And Wife Arrested For Alleged Organ Harvesting

Ike Ekweremadu, a Nigerian Senator, and his wife, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, were arrested in the United Kingdom over alleged organ harvesting.

The two were accused of plotting to transfer a child to the UK so that organs could be harvested, according to the metropolitan police, who announced the arrest on Thursday.

The specialist crime unit of the force conducted an investigation before making the arrest.

They have been kept in custody, according to the police, and will stand trial at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court today.

The statement reads: “Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.”

“Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

“A child has been safeguarded and we are working closely with partners on continued support.

“As criminal proceedings are now under way we will not be providing further details.”
