The court postpones the assault case to March 5 and grants portable N2 million bail.
On Thursday, February 20, Portable was charged with attacking government officers and was arraigned in court. After being listed as wanted by the Ogun State Police Command, the musician turned himself in on Wednesday morning at the Criminal Investigations Department (SCID) in Lagos.
Later on, he was moved to Eleweran, Abeokuta, to work at the command’s headquarters. Portable was charged with five counts, including conspiracy, assault, obstruction, and being armed with weapons such as cutlasses and guns, as well as conduct likely to cause harm.
However, he pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Nine of his associates had previously been arraigned on February 6 on similar charges.
The associates—Nurudeen Warris (21), Adetola Alashe (25), Samuel Adeleke (28), Oluwaseun Ayenuwa (19), Oluwapelumi Adeosun (20), Gospel Kanu (20), Precious Ohiegebo (19), Ifeoluwa Babatunde (27), and Fatimo Muhammed (26)—allegedly assaulted and obstructed town planning officers Abidemi Onabanjo, Ramon Lateef, and Akinpelumi Oyero while they were carrying out their official duties.
The incident reportedly took place at Odogwu Bar, a business owned by Portable.
Following his not-guilty plea, Portable’s lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, requested bail, assuring the court that the singer was remorseful.
