Court Orders Sperm Donor Who Fathered 550 Children To Stop

A Dutch man suspected of using sperm donations to father more than 550 children globally has been told to stop.

If Jonathan, a 41-year-old man, tries to donate his sperm again, he might face a punishment of more than 100,000 (£88,000). He was prohibited from contributing to Dutch fertility clinics in 2017 when it was discovered he had fathered more than 100 children.

But he continued making online and international sperm donations instead of stopping. He has been instructed by a court in The Hague to produce a list of every clinic he has used and to instruct them to dispose of his sperm.

It was claimed that the individual had deceived hundreds of women.

According to Dutch clinical recommendations, a donor shouldn’t father more than 25 children among 12 families.

They are urged to minimize how frequently they lend their assistance in order to lessen the possibility of siblings unintentionally getting married and having children together.

However, judges found that since starting to donate sperm in 2007, the man had contributed to the birth of between 550 and 600 children.

The mother of one of the children reportedly fathered with his sperm, as well as an organization defending the rights of donor children, have filed lawsuits against him.
