Court Remands Teacher For Alleged S3xual Assault Of 6-Year-Old

An Ikeja S*xual Offences and Domestic Violence Court presided over by Justice Ramon Oshodi has remanded Omobolanle Micheal Olaniyi, a 25-year-old teacher, to a prison facility for alleged s*xual assault of a six-year-old student.

On Monday, November 4, 2024, the Lagos State Police Command arraigned Olaniyi.

The suspect was caught on July 24, 2023, and charged with indecent treatment of a child and s*xual assault by penetration.

According to the prosecution counsel, B. E. Okeowo, the offenses violate Sections 135 and 261 of the Lagos State Criminal Laws, 2015.

The alleged attack took place at Oliver Care Montessori School Ogba, where Olaniyi was a teacher and the victim a student.

According to the charges, Olaniyi inappropriately grabbed the victim’s buttocks, carried her on his lap, and s*xually abused her by entering his fingers into her v@gina.

“Omobolanle Michael Olaniyi, sometime in July 2023, at the Oliver Care Montessori School, Ogba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Judicial Division did treat one (name withheld) female, aged six-year-old indecently by touching her buttocks and carrying her on your laps,” the charge read.

“Omobolanle Michael Olaniyi, sometime in July 2023 at the Oliver Care Montessori School, Ogba, Lagos State, in the Ikeja Judicial Division did sexually penetrate one (name withheld) aged six-year-old by inserting your finger into her v@gina.”

However, the accused entered a not guilty plea to the charges against him.

In his decision, Justice Ramon Oshodi postponed the case until February 4, 2025, for more proceedings and mandated that the suspect be detained in a prison facility.
