FG Files Fresh Allegations Against Nnamdi Kanu

Nnamdi Kanu, the arrested leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), is facing an upgraded seven-count terrorist accusation from the federal government.

All of the accusations against Kanu that had previously been upheld by the court were included in the amended charge, which was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja and was given the file number FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015.

According to the Federal Government, Kanu, who is currently detained by the Department of State Service (DSS), threatened via broadcast that anyone who disobeyed IPOB’s instruction to stay at home in the South-East should write their will.

It told the court that as a result of the threat, businesses in the Eastern States of Nigeria, including banks, schools, markets, malls, and gasoline stations, have continued to close, halting both pedestrian and vehicular activities.

The government asserted that Kanu made many broadcasts in 2018 that encouraged his followers to murder security officers and their families.

It stated that the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act of 2013, Section 1 (2) (h) mandated penalties for the offence.
