Forgiveness: A Decision To Release Feelings Of Resentment

Published on

Psychologists generally define forgiveness as a conscious or deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance toward a person or group who has harmed you, regardless of whether they deserve your forgiveness or not.

Forgiveness does not mean forgetting rather, it’s simply voluntary action of letting go of the troubles in one’s heart.

It is something we choose to do when we are ready to move on or when the love in our heart speaks louder than temporary hate for that person that wronged us.

One thing I have come to realize in life is that there is no love without forgiveness, and there is certainly no forgiveness without love.

Katherine Ponder will always say that “if you hold resentment toward another, you are bound to that person or condition by an emotional link that is stronger than steel” forgiveness is the only way to dissolve that link and get free.

Without it, life is governed by an endless cycle of resentment and retaliation. So let’s try as much as possible to always let go and enjoy inner peace.

On a lighter note, if you want to stay young and healthier, learn to forgive. Life is tough already, don’t add to it through unforgiveness.
