Robert Green, a former Chelsea goalkeeper, has named Luka Modric, Thibaut Courtois, and Karim Benzema as the three players who contributed to Real Madrid’s victory over the Blues.

Green made the statement after Real Madrid knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League quarter-finals on Tuesday.

Real Madrid qualified for the Champions League semi-finals after defeating Chelsea 5-4 on aggregate.

Last night, the LaLiga giants lost 3-2 to Chelsea in the second leg but won 3-1 in the first game last week.

Green, speaking to BBC, said, “It really has been a wonderful effort from Chelsea. They’ve made a real game of it.

“Real Madrid have got away with one tonight. A moment of brilliance from Modric gave them the lifeline.

“Chelsea invested so much in the game. Tuchel said we’ve to invest so much and they did.

“They put hearts and souls into this game. Real Madrid looked lost. They looked like they didn’t have a clue like they were short of confidence.

“But they’ve players who produce moments. Today it was Modric, Courtois and Benzema.”
