Former Heavyweight Champion Deontay Wilder Arrested For Gun Crime

Former heavyweight boxing champion Deontay Wilder was arrested Tuesday for possessing a gun after a routine traffic stop in Los Angeles.

Wilder made a stop in Hollywood around 1 a.m., according to TMZ.
At 3 p.m., after police said they found the windows of his Rolls-Royce illegally tinted obscuring his license plate.

A police officer said he had police search his car after he smelled burning marijuana while parked.

During the search, police found marijuana and a handgun. Wilder was arrested and booked on a charge of possession of a concealed weapon.

The 37-year-old appeared to address the incident with a tweet on Tuesday afternoon.

He wrote, “I’d rather be safe than sorry. The End.”
