Javier Hernandez, a former striker for Manchester United, has offered to play for the team for free in an effort to address their striker issue.
With star player Cristiano Ronaldo looking to leave and Anthony Martial out with a hamstring injury, coach Erik ten Hag is now dealing with a striker problem.
This summer, the Old Trafford management is looking for a striker, and it appears that Hernandez, 34, is eager to assist the team.
Hernandez, known by his nickname Chicharito, scored 59 goals in 157 games at Old Trafford. He is now hoping to challenge for the league title with MLS team LA Galaxy this year.
Although he is now content with life in Los Angeles, the Mexican forward promised fans in an interview with the Mirror that he would consider returning to Man United.
He said, “If United came for me then I’d say ‘yes, I’ll play for free’. Of course, you know, I’d do that.
“But I also want to be very respectful to my club. I am playing very consistently and in my mind, my conviction is all about winning a championship with LA Galaxy.”
“In the future, if things happen then they happen – but in my mind, I am 100 per cent with LA.”
With nine goals in 21 appearances this season, Hernandez has so far been a crucial component of the LA Galaxy’s season run. The MLS team is presently ranked ninth in the league.
