Gunmen Kidnap Government Contractor In Delta, Demand N100m Ransom

Published on

Suspected kidnappers have seized a government contractor, Engr. Lucky Ugbo, in Ogwashi-Uku, located within the Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Reports indicate that the abduction took place around 8:45 pm, four days prior, at the victim’s home on Isah Road within the community.

The kidnappers reached out to Ugbo’s family on Sunday, July 13, initially demanding a N200 million ransom, which they later lowered to N100 million.

Local residents near Ugbo’s residence reported that the operation was executed by heavily armed gunmen who stormed his home and forcibly took him at gunpoint.

“The gunmen were heavily armed and were dressed like security agents. They laid siege in an uncompleted building close to his house, and waited,” a source narrated.

“He went out and was just entering his house when they stopped him as his wife came out to open the front door for him.”

The assailants fired multiple shots into the air before leading their captive into the darkness on foot.

“Many of us who live close, watched the incident from afar. We thought the gunmen were security agents.”

“Since the incident, the kidnappers have called his wife twice; they called on Sunday and demanded N200 million ransom, and today, Monday morning, they called again and demanded N100 million as ransom,” the source added.

The Delta State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Bright Edafe, verified the incident.

“Yes, it’s confirmed. The police are intensifying efforts to track down the kidnappers and rescue the victim,” he added.

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
