Helping hands that are not necessary

Published on

Kindness is a great virtue, but when showing kindness to a man takes him out of the divine process, it becomes a snare and a curse. Sometimes, the help we offer would only make things worse for people. it is a lot better that people are allowed to go through the process than to prematurely abort their experience. Needed lessons are lost and capacities are never developed when we are all too quick to give helping hands that are not necessary.

What we had intended for good can indeed turn into evil; and sweet can turn sour when we try to help God to fast track processes for people. An over pampered child, an over indulged friend are quick reminders of what could happen when we help carry for others, the loads they should have carried by themselves.

Help that destroys the capacities of others both to reason and to act do more evil than good. Rather than give fish always, offer a hook and teach the man to fish; rather than pay the bills always, offer the man a means of paying his bills. God wants us to offer help in the direction that would help improve people’s capacities, not destroy them. Stay blessed.
