President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigeria has emphasized that only his administration has put a stop to the long-running herder/farmer disputes, which had been made worse by desertification and population growth.
The National Livestock Transformation Plan, which places ranching at its core, is the only way to eliminate the resource competition at the heart of the conflicts, according to the President in an interview with Bloomberg.
Despite the fact that conflicts have significantly decreased, certain state governors have tried to play politics in areas where ranches have been developed, according to Buhari.
Regarding the fight against terrorism, President Buhari stated that in 2015, Boko Haram controlled a region within the boundaries of Nigeria, the size of Belgium. The terrorists, he claimed, are almost gone as a military force today.
Buhari noted that the jets purchased from the US and the intelligence shared by the British were not made available to previous administrations and stand as a testament to the renewed trust re-built between Nigeria and our traditional western allies under my government while affirming that a leader of ISWAP was eliminated by an airstrike by the Nigerian Airforce in March.
Buhari said, “Terrorists no longer hold any territory in Nigeria, and their leaders are deceased; and vast infrastructure development sets the country on course for sustainable and equitable growth.”
