Homeless Man Beats Up A Good Samaritan Trying To Cover Him With A Coat, Steals His Wallet

A homeless man is shown on surveillance camera beating and robbing a Good Samaritan who attempted to cover him with his coat.

The event occurred on a Midtown sidewalk in New York on Wednesday morning, January 12.

While strolling down the street, a 59-year-old man noticed Xavier Israel, who was resting on a sidewalk in front of 476 5th Avenue.

The victim attempts to cover up Israel with his jacket, but Israel jumps to his feet, tackles the Good Samaritan, and grabs his wallet from his pocket.

Later in the video, the victim can be seen in an unsuccessful attempt to grab his wallet from the suspect but the suspect punches him and throws him to the ground.

Israel was apprehended by police shortly after fleeing the area on West 41st St. and 5th Ave.

They found roughly $1,500 from Israel after witnesses informed them he stuffed cash into his jeans.

According to reports, Israel was convicted of assault, robbery, and grand larceny.
