How To Teach Children To Trust In Their Own Judgment 8

Published on

Hello Great Mothers! We have been discussing how to nurture our children into self-confident adults who will trust in their judgment. A child who can confidently make decisions by himself or herself, in the long run, develops good characteristics that will make him go far in life. Examples of those characteristics are;

  1. Contentment: such a child knows and accepts himself/herself and doesn’t feel the need to copy or put others down.
  2. Doesn’t worry about failures
  3. Have the ability to deal with his/her feelings.
  4. Can recover quickly after failure or disappointment.
  5. Love himself and feel loved
  6. Can accept responsibilities for his own happiness/success, etc.

We have talked about different ways of teaching our children to trust in their judgment in my previous articles. The last and most important method is;

Teach your kids about God’s love and help them develop unshakable confidence centered around who they are in Christ:

The best way of developing confidence in our kids is by teaching them how to let God’s love serve as their foundational source of self-esteem. We are to teach them how to allow God’s love to be the basis of their decision-making. How?

1) Sharing Bible stories and insights about God’s love with them; opens them to God’s love for them and they also learn to love him back
2) Teaching and encouraging them to have daily quiet time with God; will them develop a deep relationship with God.
3) Have a family Bible study every week; this will enable you to discover god’s truth together.
4) Be a good role model to them by sharing your victories and struggles with them.

We provide our children with a solid, stable foundation on which to base their decisions when we teach them to base their confidence on what God’s promises are for them.

And the only way to help children fall in love with God through every stage of life is to impart to them the knowledge of how to build a strong, firm foundation on God’s promises (the good, the bad, and the ugly).

When our kids are secure in their understanding of how much God loves them, then it’s so much easier for them to love Him back, accept themselves for who they are (and to look to no one else but God for their self-identity), trust Him, and trust themselves. And because they have grown to know who they are in Christ and that He loves them, they trust Him to help them make good decisions in life.

We have come to the end of this series. I hope it has been helpful. Please Join for another interesting topic in my next article.
