Lizzo Talks Honestly About Ending Her Ten-Month Battle With Depression

Published on

The Grammy-winning vocalist Lizzo has shared her experiences with depression.

She said on Instagram that she had struggled for ten months but had managed to overcome it.

She wrote: “I’m the happiest I’ve been in 10 months. The strange thing about depression is you don’t know you’re in it until you’re out of it. I’m definitely not all the way as carefree as I used to be. But the dark cloud that followed me every day is finally clearing up. My smile reaches my eyes again and that’s a win. I thought my album was finished.. but I gotta get some of these good vibes off in a banger real quick. Thanks for your patience.”

Depression is one of the most common mental health conditions. The World Health Organization (WHO)Trusted Source estimates that more than 264 million people around the world live with the condition. Still, it’s easy to feel alone and isolated when you have depression.

Depression can be a lonely experience, but there is strength in community. Sometimes, just knowing that someone else knows how we’re feeling can help. Note that getting better from depression demands a lifelong commitment.
