Man Arrested For Allegedly St@bbing His Newly Wed Wife To D£ath

Police in Lagos state have arrested a 30-year-old man named Motunrayo Olaniyi for reportedly stabbing his newlywed wife, Olajumoke, to death at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe in the Ikorodu region of Lagos State on Friday, October 4.

According to a statement made by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, Motunrayo allegedly stabbed his 25-year-old wife many times following an incident, locked her in the room, and set it on fire. Hundeyin added that the accused proceeded to inflict wounds on himself following the deed.

The statement in part reads; “A distress call was received on October 4 at Ikorodu Division that a newly wedded couple, one Motunrayo Olaniyi, aged 30, and his wife Olajumoke, aged 25 years, allegedly engaged in a domestic scuffle in their room at Amazing Grace Estate, Elepe, Ikorodu.

“In the process, the husband reportedly st@bbed the wife to d£ath, locked her in the room, and set it ablaze, while he inflicted w@unds on himself.

“Police from the Ikorodu Division responded to a distress call and put out the fire. They found Olajumoke’s lifeless body with abdominal wounds.”

Hundeyin further stated that Olaniyi was rescued and sent to a local hospital, where he was treated, discharged, and then placed into police custody.

According to the police spokesperson, a preliminary investigation found that the suspect stabbed his wife during the struggle and suffered minor wounds on himself.

He went on to say that the corpse had been sent to Ikorodu General Hospital morgue for autopsy. More inquiry is underway.
