Liverpool’s standout star, Mohamed Salah, was honored with the 2025 Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year award during a ceremony on Thursday evening.

Salah clinched the 2025 men’s accolade by earning an impressive 90 per cent of the votes from the FWA’s 918 eligible members, marking the largest victory margin seen this century.

The Egyptian forward was celebrated for his remarkable performance throughout the 2024-25 season, which played a pivotal role in Liverpool securing the Premier League title.

Across all competitions, Salah has contributed an astonishing 33 goals and 23 assists in his 51 matches so far.

His Liverpool colleague Virgil van Dijk came in second in the FWA voting, followed by Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak and Arsenal’s Declan Rice.

“It means a lot to win this award, it’s incredible,” said Salah at the event.

“I always feel special winning this award, something from the writers is so special. And with that gap between you and the second, it’s just incredible.

“Winning the Premier League and having that impact on the team, I think I said before, I never felt that [much] happiness in the club, that moment where we won the Premier League against Spurs.“

A Gentle Reminder: Every obstacle is a stepping stone, every morning; a chance to go again, and those little steps take you closer to your dream.
