Hello Great Mothers!

In my previous article, I emphasized the significant responsibility that parenting entails, particularly for mothers, as we often spend the most time with our children. The values and morals we instill in our children through our parenting shape who they become and what they learn from observing us.

Every mother desires to see her children grow into well-balanced, responsible adults who represent us well in society. Achieving this goal requires us to be intentional about the parenting style we adopt at every stage.

Parenting style plays a crucial role in shaping a child’s mental health and overall well-being. Different approaches have varying effects on children’s emotional development, self-esteem, and resilience.

We previously discussed the Managerial parenting style. In this article, we will explore the Consultant parenting method.

While the Managerial style focuses on direct control and a structured nurturing environment, the Consultant parenting style emphasizes offering suggestions, providing guidance, and allowing children the freedom to make certain decisions.

In addition to the components of consulting parenting style discussed in the previous articles, others are;

Open Communication
Consultant mothers maintain open, two-way communication with their children, involving them in decision-making and considering their thoughts and preferences.

Involvement in Decision-making

This approach empowers children to explore possibilities and learn from their experiences. Mothers who adopt this style aim to help their children develop problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and the ability to overcome obstacles independently.

Encouragement and Support:

Children are encouraged to set their objectives while being supported to achieve them. This method involves providing direction and setting boundaries without dominating every aspect of their children’s lives.

In the upcoming sections of this article, we will delve into the impacts of this parenting style on our kids.
